Our Milestones
2016 - The Beginning
Sabah Land Rover Club was officially registered on 8 September 2016. Under the leadership of founding President Datuk Henry Hing, the club brought together enthusiasts with a shared passion for Land Rovers, exploration and friendship.
2019 - Recognition for Community Service
SLRC received the Anugerah Sumbangan Ikhlas 2019 (Korporat) in recognition of its contributions to voluntary welfare service—a meaningful acknowledgement of the club’s commitment to helping others.
2019 - Oxford and The Last Overland
SLRC participated in The Last Overland, the expedition from Singapore to London featuring “Oxford,” a historic 1955 Series I Land Rover.
Oxford was one of two Land Rovers used in the 1955–1956 Oxford and Cambridge Far Eastern Expedition, known as The First Overland. Sixty-four years later, it returned to the road to make the journey in the opposite direction, connecting a pioneering chapter of Land Rover history with a new generation of explorers. For SLRC, participating was a memorable connection to this heritage and the international Land Rover community. Expedition history
Community Partnership — Promoting Long Pasia Tourism
SLRC worked with the Long Pasia community on a community programme to promote local tourism. The programme was featured on RTM’s TV Okey, available on Astro, introducing Long Pasia to a wider audience.
This collaboration strengthened the club’s relationship with the community and reflected our commitment to supporting the places and people who welcome us on our journeys.
Through the Years — More Than 50 Events and Community Programmes
SLRC has organised more than 50 events and community programmes, including five jamborees. These activities have brought members and families together, strengthened friendships and created opportunities to explore Sabah and contribute to community life.
Across Borders — International Fellowship and the Tribute Series
SLRC has built friendships with Land Rover clubs throughout Malaysia and in Brunei, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia. Through these connections and fellowship surrounding the Tribute Series, our community extends beyond Sabah, bringing enthusiasts together to share experiences, celebrate Land Rover heritage and build lasting friendships across borders.
2026 - Celebrating Ten Years and a New Chapter
SLRC marked its 10th anniversary, celebrating a decade of friendship, adventure and community service. The club also welcomed new leadership for the 2026–2028 term, with John Kong as President, continuing the work of previous committees and looking ahead to the club’s second decade.
Our story continues through the journeys we share, the communities we support and the friendships we build.
